With National Picnic Week running from 11-19th June, Smokey Tails launches its new weekday lunch menu and takeaway BBQ picnic basket. Smokey Tails, the cult pop-up that recently parked itself permanently at Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen, is famed for its delicious smoked meats, authentic Midwestern American dinners, and of course its eccentric co-owner DJ Seth Troxler. Vegetarians do not despair, the restaurant is adding another string to its bow with a new lunch menu featuring some seriously swoon-worthy veggie dishes – think big bold flavoursome salads such as Butternut Squash with Pea Shoots, Radish, Green Beans, Peas, Avocado Oil & Puy Lentils, and Miso Aubergine with Smoked Tofu and Aubergine Puree.
Vibrant vegetarian dishes will share centre stage with BBQ lunch options, with ingredients such as Asparagus and sweetcorn given the ‘smokey’ treatment to maximize flavour. Meaty delights on the lunch menu include: Coriander Lime and Orange Pulled Pork; Smoked Chicken Wings with Spicy Buffalo Sauce, and Smoked Lamb Belly Croquettes. Diners will be able to take advantage of the ‘Meat and Two Veg’ lunch offer (priced at £11) which includes your choice of any meat dish on the menu, plus a salad and a side of buttery smoked Mexican sweetcorn.
If a slightly more secluded affair is more your thing then why not escape the hustle and bustle of the restaurant and grab one of the Smokey Tails BBQ Taster Picnic Baskets to go. Say goodbye to boring soggy sandwiches and crushed crisps for lunch– the Smokey Tails BBQ Picnic has landed! Can’t wait until the weekend to get your BBQ fix? Now you can pop into Smokey Tails any time of the week to indulge in some take-away grills and thrills – all packed up for you to eat anywhere you please. Priced at £9 per person and launching for National Picnic Week, the BBQ taster includes Smokey Tails Chicken Wings, Seasonal Slaw, Potato Salad, heritage Tomato Salad, Smoked Mexican Sweetcorn and even dessert – a Salted Caramel and Chocolate Brownie. Vegetarian options are available and change seasonally with the menu. The basket includes everything needed for an impromptu park, square or even office desk picnic – cutlery is included and blankets available on request from the restaurant for a small deposit. Nothing says romance like a picnic.
Lunch is served between 12-3pm during the week. For full details on Smokey Tails opening times and to book a table: http://smokeytails.co.uk/book-a-table/#
