Here at Hero & Leander we suggest turning your detox into an experience that both you and your partner can share together; after all it is much easier to do if you are both on the same page. Detoxing is about looking after the whole body and at The Isle of Eriska they have got you covered. The Isle of Eriska is a luxury 5* resort and member of Relais & Chateaux. Eriska is located on its own 300 acre Private Island just off the West Coast of Scotland, two hours North of Glasgow. With unrivalled views, this haven of tranquillity also boasts its own 9 hole golf course and a spa which was relaunched in May 2015 with a luxury state of the art thermal suite. Who said detoxing couldn’t be romantic?

Eriska Hotel

Eriska Hotel

The Isle of Eriska has 25 individually designed bedrooms, which includes 5 king sized deluxe spa suites and also offers 2 two-bedroom Garden Cottage Suites for ultimate privacy; offering you a home away from home. The décor offers the perfect blend of traditional Scottish comfort and modern contemporary style; each with lush views of the stunning landscape surrounding the hotel. As fabulous as the bedrooms are in Eriska, the two luxury lodges are our favourites here at Hero & Leander and ooze romance and privacy from every crevice. ‘The Hilltop Reserves’ are one bedroom apartments and are set back away from the main hotel, on the hillside with outdoor private hot tubs and unbeatable views over the loch with the Isle of Lismore in the distance. Not only are the suites customised to blend in with the beautiful surroundings, but they are also as fundamentally ‘green’ and as sustainable as possible and boast stunning views across the waters with the hills in the distance.

Food is of course an important part of a Detox and even though you may be watching what you are eating it would be almost rude not to experience the delectable delights on offer at The Isle of Eriska. The 300 acre private island produces a much wider variety of raw ingredients than the rest of the UK; from sea vegetables and berries, to wildhips, mushrooms and naturally growing herbs. The restaurant offers an exquisite dining experience, with a relaxed atmosphere and the option to dine under the stars in the warmer months. With 3AA rosettes and a Michelin Star for their restaurant, Eriska offers an exquisite dining experience with a four-course dinner menu, full Scottish breakfast until 10am; as well as an impressive wine list that should perhaps be avoided on a detox and the famous Farmhouse Cheese Trolley with 40 varieties. The hotel launched The Deck restaurant in June 2015. The restaurant is located above the spa, with a large external decking and views overlooking the loch with the Highlands in the distance. The restaurant offers options such as ‘Our Own Home Smoked Salmon, Simply served with Lemon, Capers and Buttered Brown Bread’- delicious.

Isle of Eriska Spa

Isle of Eriska Spa

One of the highlights of Eriska is the spa and this is a must have experience during a detox retreat for both you and your partner. In May 2015, Eriska relaunched The Stables Spa with a brand new state of the art luxury thermal suite with sauna, steam room and Rasul room. In addition to this there are two luxurious new treatment rooms with statement baths, showers and stunning sea views over Loch Linnhe. There’s also a brand new Life Fitness Gymnasium to help work off your four-course meal.

The spa rooms are designed to reflect different parts of the island, so some are darker and represent the wooded parts of the island – ideal for a relaxing massage. Others are seashore inspired, so they are brighter and have bathtubs for seaweed therapies and other treatments. There are now five treatment rooms in total, including two couples treatment rooms and a Rasul mud room that can seat up to 4 people. This works in conjunction with treatments and also as a stand-alone feature. They use natural products ishga and ESPA that have been chosen to create refreshing treatments, to infuse the mind, allowing your body to be cleansed with every breath, harmonising you with the island. ESPA was born from the deep-rooted belief that in order to progress with pace, you need to stop, recharge and reconsider. As the modern life keeps accelerating, ESPA products and philosophy are more salient than ever before. Hero & Leander recommend ‘The Detoxifying Spa Tonic’ treatment programme which is a balancing and detoxifying programme ideal to help boost the metabolism and speed up the elimination of toxins; perfect for your detox break.Full body skin brushing and gentle exfoliation prepares the skin for an ESPA Algae Wrap. This therapeutic treatment uses warm seaweed gel rich in minerals, and is combined with a full scalp massage to help release tension and continue the effect with a Detoxifying Aromatherapy Massage.

Whilst the Isle of Eriska is hidden away on its own Island, it is far from lacking in activities. The hotel offers an array of sporting facilities, including a Putting Green Croquet lawn, nature trails, skeet shooting, indoor Tennis, Badminton and bowls. There is also both an indoor and outdoor Driving Range, mountain bikes for hire as well as the brand new Life Fitness gymnasium. Guests can also take advantage of the more peaceful services which this haven has to offer, including the indoor ozone heated pool and spa facilities.
