Nestled behind Liverpool Street Station, with the trains rubbling below and the tall city buildings overlooking sits Broadgate Ice Rink, an urban winter delight. London’s longest operating ice rink is entering its 30th year of being frosty and there’s a full itinerary of events throughout this winter until February 2nd. With sessions last 1 hour there’s plenty of time to impress your other half with some Dancing on Ice skills…if you have any. Or instead to get a chilly bum. Then after a good deal of sliding around, why not head rink side for some munching at Urban Food Fest, a selection of fantastic hot food for street stall vendors, all with some delicious drinks including mulled cider or wine selections from Davy’s ‘On Ice’ wine bar! There’s pulled pork burgers, seaweed hotdogs, pork and feta souvlaki and much more to wet your appetite! We had to sample the pulled pork burgers from You’ve Pulled, a fantastic little piggy vendor! Here’s a little piccie of our yummy treat.
For those that wish to continue on in to the night why not venture over to Broadgate Circle and the Winter Terrace, visiting the selection of restaurants and bars that are over there. We visited recently for our own skating experience, that didn’t was less Torvil and Dean than we’d imagined, and there was even the beautiful Urban Voices choir serenading the evening revellers with a soulful gospel soundtrack. There’s much fun to be had whilst enjoying prosecco from Beany Green, warm breads and mulled wine from Franco Manca and hot sake from Shoryu Ramen.
So head over to Broadgate for a truly London Christmas experience.
