Burgers are a simple concept, yet difficult to execute well. Especially at the fast and value for money end of the gourmet spectrum. Hero & Leander were invited to sample the burgers at Big Fernand, the latest addition to London’s ever growing burger scene, located near Goodge Street. Choose from tasty offerings with great names such as Le Victor and Le Batholomé from a very good price of £7 – £10. Diners can choose from 6 set types of burgers or simply compose your own. With a choice of beef, chicken, lamb, veal or veggie there’s countless varieties to decide on. Then choose your sides – either chips or salad. Straight up, to the point. When it comes to dessert Big Fernand has a delicious cremé offering in three different flavours and we opted to finish off our meal, sharing the caramel and salted popcorn option. It was delicious.
Upstairs the restaurant has a distinctly different feel to it from the downstairs diner. The decor is old world chic with delicate bird patterned wallpaper, comfy armchairs and bookcases. Very much a homely room. This space can also be hired out for parties – complete with food! The service was friendly and very quick. If we wanted to be we could have easily been in and out within half hour, which is great if you’re in a rush but still want a decent meal.
So if you’re looking for a quick lunch date and fancy a tasty burger then head over to Big Fernand for a treat. The menu is simple yet delicious and the service quick that makes the whole experience great for a quick pre-event bite to eat.
