House of Holi | Cinnamon Kitchen

The House of Holi (#houseofholi) has returned and Hero & Leander were there to witness it. Upon approaching the Cinnamon Kitchen at London’s Devonshire Square we were being set upon by a typical London day of wet weather and cold grey skies. It was a dreary day, however we were met upon arrival into the Devonshire Square courtyard by an explosion of vivid colour, set against a backdrop of stock London yellow brick. A white room has been constructed within the courtyard for you to celebrate Holi, the Hindu festival of colours. Holi itself is on March 26th this year however, Cinnamon Kitchen and head chef Vivek Singh are putting on this event throughout March. It is a fantastic idea and perfectly accompanied with a lunch to serve that appetite you’ve built up whilst throwing paint on one another. It’s fantastic fun, colourful, sociable and a real talking point for your fellow commuters on the way home.

The Food

Cinnamon Kitchen is revered for its fabulous menus that are rich in variety, colour and flavour that ensure you’re always satisfied and there’s a dish for all. Hero & Leander ate for starters a spiced seabream with green mango and coconut chutney. The fish was absolutely delicious and the two chutneys were perfect partners. Mains followed and we were served a Chettinad spiced lamb kofta with coconut and coriander sauce. The lamb was cooked to perfection, not dry and packed full of flavoursome spices. Without doubt, a dish that should be tried by any meat lover. We finished off the day with assorted holi sweets, carrot halwa spring roll, gulab jamun and mango kulfi. A true reflection of the brilliance of Indian food. The menu reflected the day so well, full of colour and vibrancy.
