Recently opened this summer (2016) the Dog House is the basement bar found at Bernardi’s the highly reputable restaurant on Seymour Street in London’s Marylebone district. This exciting new cocktail bar oozes a cool sophistication with its use of dark greys and blues transporting you from the cool palette of upstairs restaurant. Setting foot downstairs you’ll be either wanting to sit at the bar and catch a glimpse of the bar staff preparing your Old Fashioned or why not check out the hidden snug, a seating area for up to 8 people. It’s a beautiful September too, so be sure to spend some time in the small outdoor courtyard.
The bar serves up both classic and modern Italian cocktails, such as the ‘Lotta in Salita’, comprising The Collector vermouth, Carpano classic, Bulleit bourbon, and Evangelista Ratifia; or the ‘Amante’: Stellacello, Villa Zarri brandy, and fresh grapefruit (all priced at £10.50). There will also be a dedicated Negroni section, a wide selection of vermouths, and specialty Italian beers. A bar menu will feature Cachet, Pizzette, and antipasti to accompany the drinks list.
If that’s not enough to tempt you, Head Chef Sabrina Gidda who has spent time at none other than The Dorchester, has created a section of dishes including roasted petter, black olive and anchovy crostini (£4.50), taglioni, wild garlic, burrata and datterini (£8.50) and cornish crab risotto, bisque butter and samphire (£10).
You’ll end up in the doghouse if you don’t check out The Dog House…
